The Lennox Partnership

The Lennox Partnership ( TLP) was created in 1988, and re-named in July 2000, as a result of a merger between two Enterprise Trusts operating in West Dunbartonshire. Initially established to support the regeneration of the Clydebank area following the demise of the shipbuilding and heavy engineering sectors, the organisation has evolved over the years, broadening its remit and widening its operational area.

TLP is a not for profit economic development company, which provides high quality specialist intermediary support services on behalf of a range of key customers in support of national strategies such as the Scottish Executive's Smart Successful Scotland, Closing the Opportunity Gap, Social Economy Action Plan, and the Department of Work and Pensions Welfare to Work agenda.

Governed by a predominantly private sector, non executive Board made up of representatives from the local business community, the organisation has two main strands of activity which are reflected in its purpose statement :

"The Lennox Partnership delivers services to enable people to find lasting work, and to make organisations more sustainable"

TLP 's major customers consist of a range of public sector agencies including three Local Enterprise Companies Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire, Glasgow and Ayrshire, Careers Scotland, Communities Scotland, Jobcentreplus, West Dunbartonshire Community Planning Partnership and West Dunbartonshire Council.

In 2003 the TLP Board set out a number of key principles/objectives for the ongoing development of the organisation :

To increase the number of funding organisations providing support to The Lennox Partnership
To extend the geographical area in which The Lennox Partnership operates
To deliver services on a full cost recovery basis
To grow the business in small self financing business units.

The mission statement of TLP is "Responding to need, improving performance, making change happen", and the following list represents the existing "business units" and their aims as agreed with the staff.

In Work Training Support : To assist new recruits achieve success in their jobs, and help them prosper within their role to the benefit of themselves, their employers and the local economy

JOBlink Services : To access identify and support individuals back into employment, directly, or via training to maximise their positive contribution to the wider community

Social Economy : To provide specialist support for social economy organisations, to ensure they continue to provide and develop the essential services they offer within their communities

Tourism Development : To identify the recruitment and training needs of employers within the sector, develop the skills of individuals wishing to pursue a career in Tourism, and ensure local people are aware of the employment opportunities in the industry.

Young People Services : To offer support specifically for young people aged 16-24 so they can identify an appropriate career path, and are able to achieve sustainable employment, and achieve their personal goals.
